Rachel Speck

Owner, Head Trainer

Rachel Speck was born in Carlisle, PA where she started dancing ballet at 3 years old at one of the best ballet schools in the world, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. At the young age of 15, she moved to Miami all by herself to dance and train at Miami City Ballet. Rachel performed an abundance of classical works and Balanchine ballets throughout her schooling and professional career. Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet is one of the only ballet schools in the world with the rights to perform George Balanchine’s works. Rachel has had the opportunity to perform Balanchine’s Nutcracker every year from the time she was 5, and has danced almost every role from an Angel to the Sugar Plum Fairy and everything in between.

Other Balanchine works she’s performed include, Diamonds, Walpurgisnacht, La Valse, Raymonda Variations, Seranade, Who Cares, Allegro Brilliant, Concerto Barocco, A Midsummers Night’s Dream, Don Quixote, and Divertamento to name a few. She has also had the opportunity to perform many Marius Petipa works which include the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, one of the 3 slave girls in Le Corsaire, Giselle, Coppelia, and more. Rachel was put on pointe at only 7 years old which normally isn’t recommended, but she was extremely strong and ready. A lot of these roles she performed at only 9 years old on pointe.

After Rachel retired from dancing professionally, her biggest fear was becoming out of shape and losing her ballerina strength and tone. She quickly got into the fitness word and became a certified personal trainer and continued her certifications with Pilates, group fitness, and nutrition. Rachel taught and trained at numerous gyms in Miami which include Crunch, Ironflower, Equinox, Sobe Fit Body, and Ultimate Sports Institute to name a few. In the midst of teaching at different studios, Rachel decided to start her own fitness company, Speck Fitness, in 2011. In the beginning, it was just a private personal training company, but over the years it’s evolved into so much more. From private training, to bootcamps, to classes, to ballet classes and private lessons, to dance conditioning, to a fitness brand with apparel, equipment, and three DVDs, to now having a permanent home in Weston inside Ultimate Sports Institute as a professional ballet school and fitness studio.

Rachel is also the creator of the world-famous workout, Tendu Toning®️. When she retired from dancing and got into the fitness world, she realized that strength training actually made her a stronger dancer. Her whole life though she was taught that weights and working out was bad for dancers, so this was something she needed to share with other dancers. She began creating a workout blending ballet moves with fitness moves to help dancers get stronger in the things they do every day, but without bulking the wrong muscles. She also noticed that all of the exercises helped her fitness clients achieve long, lean muscles like a dancer. She named the workout, Tendu Toning®️ to show the fusion of ballet and fitness since tendu is one of the most basic ballet steps you can do. There are now three Tendu Toning®️ DVDs/videos available, a certification program, equipment, apparel, and of course classes and private classes for adults and dancers of all ages. Rachel is the real deal when it comes to ballet and real ballet training.

Arielle DiSciascio

Trainer

Arielle started dancing at the age of 3. She trained in all styles of dance at her studio, Dance Attack Miami under the direction of John Culbertson and Cookie Ramos. Her credits include performances with The Jonas Brothers, Ricky Martin, Demi Lovato, Luis Fonsi, Anuel AA, Maluma, and 2 world tours with Ozuna. Her TV credits include the VMA’s, Latin Billboards, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and most recently Super Bowl LIV where she worked as Shakira’s stand-in and danced alongside Shakira in the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Marielena Gonzalez-Quevedo

Trainer

Marielena is excited to be part of the new Tendu Toning®️ Team and help others be confident, strong and healthy at any age. She began her journey with Rachel’s amazing program over 5 years ago and had experienced a huge body transformation in just 3 months. There on after, her passion for fitness reignited and became certified in the program over 2 years ago. Since then, Marielena has been a permanent sub for Rachel and has learned so much in the fitness industry through her program and private coaching. She believes in that it is never too late to start or continue a passion or a goal.

With this in mind, Marielena was cast and had the great privilege to be in Rachel’s Tendu Toning “Unbarred” #3 DVD. Currently, Marielena has returned to her life-long passion as a Lifestyle Model and Media. A business major/entrepreneur who has lived abroad has experienced great people skills. she has had training in Ballet, Jazz, Latin Dance, Tae-Kwon-Doe, European Modeling/Runway and most important, is CPR-AED certified. Her second passion and hobby is Interior Design/Decorating, photography and collecting hand made art. She enjoys traveling and learning new culture. Marielena thanks her beautiful family for all their support, Rachel for her trust and cannot wait to help bring motivation, support and encouragement that any goal is possible.

Rina Marie Houston

Trainer

Rina Houston was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Growing up playing soccer and softball year-round as well as being in gymnastics, she soon found her passion with sports and dance. While attending American Heritage, she participated in All County for both soccer and softball, as well as cheerleading. She was also consistently active in drama, musical theatre, and Thespian club.

Rina graduated from University of South Florida with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition. Upon graduation, she opened her first My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in Plantation, FL. Soon after, upon the success of the first, she opened a second My Gym located in Aventura, FL. Additionally, she worked closely with My Gym Corporate and trained future gym owners and staff before opening their own openings. She continued to work as support staff and mentor for those opening their own gyms. Having always loved working with and teaching children, combined with her passion for fitness, this was her “dream job.”

After 16 years and the birth of her second child, she left her career to care for her children as a “stay at home” mom. Before long, she missed her calling, and began teaching children again at a local dance studio followed by her Barre and Pilates certifications. Rina is pleased to be part of the Tendu Toning team and looks forward to sharing her love and knowledge of fitness with Rachel and the Tendu Toning family.

Carrie Proenza

With over 21 years in the fitness industry as a Director and Fitness Instructor,  Carrie’s passion is helping participants embrace their bodies, live a better life and reach their own personal fitness goals. She is AFFA Group Fitness certified, NASM Personal Training, Yoga Fit level 1 & 2, TRX Group Training & Tendu Toning certified. As a Director, Carrie has lead the opening of 25 different facilities throughout the state of Florida. Carrie’s motto; if it doesnt challenge you it wont change you.

Paula Viedma

Trainer

Paula Viedma has been working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor for over 35 years.  In addition, she began teaching Yoga in 2008 and a 500hr E-RYT.  She created Sunny Mind Yoga, her own school and provides Yoga Alliance approved Workshops and 200hr Teacher Trainings.

Jennifer Ortiz

Trainer

Jennifer Ortiz has 27 years in the dance industry with a major in Elementary education and a minor in dance. As a kindergarten teacher she brings her love of children into every classroom. Her goal is for every child to succeed and to reach their potential. Jennifer is currently certified in Tendu Toning®️ and has been teaching it for over a year now. She is loving her time teaching adults and bringing her experience of ballet and her love of fitness together.

Beth Nunez

Trainer

Beth’s background in dance and cheer led her to enjoy group fitness classes. Twenty-two years ago, her instructors encouraged Beth to become an instructor and the rest is history. She finds it very rewarding to help others overcome injuries and reach their goals while enjoying fun yet intensive workout programs.
